Scenic Flights - our top 5

Here are details of our top 5 Scenic Flights, which are designed to give you the best view of the wonderful scenery available on the Coffs Coast. 

Scenics will usually be flown in our 5 passenger high wing Cessna 210, which provides comfort and safety and unrestricted under wing viewing. Costs are calculated to cover the round trip regardless of the number of persons travelling.  This cost can be shared if, for example, two couples wish to take a scenic flight at the same time. We will offer you advice on sharing a flight when you make a booking - so you can fly at the best price available. We offer a 5% discount for people holding a promotional flyer obtained from Coffs Coast Tourism Association outlets. Due to factors such as fluctuating fuel prices, prices listed here are subject to change without notice - please confirm price when booking.

We will require names and weights of all people travelling prior to the flight . Due to aircraft weight and balance restrictions, the 5th person on any flight must be under 35 kg weight. 

1. LIGHTHOUSE (North coast to Woologoolga, then South Solitary Island)
You'll take off from Coffs Harbour Regional Airport and fly north along the coast at 500' to Woolgoolga. This will give you a spectacular view of the beaches, headlands and communities north of Coffs, including Korora, Sapphire, Moonee, Emerald and Sandy beaches. It is not uncommon to see dolphins and other sealife in the surf, and of course surfers. At Woologoolga you'll fly around the town at 1000' with a great aerial view of the Sikh Temple and Woolgoolga headland, a renown whale watching lookout. Then you'll fly back down the coast again and out to South Solitary Island for a circuit round the island. You'll have lots of opportunity to take photos from both sides of the aircraft. Then it's back to Moonee Beach and coastal to Coffs for landing. Depending on the wind direction and runway in use, you will fly over the harbour and marina at Coffs after take off or on landing.

2. BELLINGER (South coast to Nambucca Heads, inland to Bellingen)
You'll follow the south coast at 500' to Nambucca Heads, passing Sawtell, Mylestrom, Raleigh, Urunga and Valla Beach. Again it will give you sepctacular views of the beaches and headlands, surfers and possibly dolphins along these often isolated southern beaches. At Nambucca Heads you'll fly over the town and then track inland to circle around Bellingen township. The Bellingen Valley is one of the most serenly scenic valleys anywhere, brilliant in its green pastureland, overlooked by the Dorrigo Plateau escarpment. Then its back to Coffs - you'll fly over the harbour and marina either on take off or landing.

3. MOOMBIL (Moonee, Coramba, Bellingen, Urunga)
After take off you'll fly along the coast at 500' north to Moonee Beach, passing Korora and Sapphire Beaches, before turning inland and flying over the Bucca Valley to Coramba in the beautiful Orara Valley. You'll pass by Nana Glen and see Glenreagh in the distance as you cross over the north-south railway line. From Coramba you'll fly south to Bellingen, flying past Friday Creek valley and then between Tuckers Knob and Mt Moombill, and over the hills to the Promised Land. This fertile valley around Glennifer leads us to Bellingen township, from where you will track back to meet the coast at Urunga. Then it's back to Coffs along the coast. This flight really showcases the beauty of the Coffs Coast from all angles as you fly a large circle covering both coastal and hinterland landscapes.

4. DORRIGO PLATEAU (Coramba, Dorrigo, Bellingen)
You'll take off and head inland to the beautiful Orara Valley village of Coramba, past Red Hill and the Karangi Dam, then fly west past Mt Moombil with its communications towers on the left and Lowanna and Timmsvale on the right. Dorrigo sits on a fertile plateau at over 2000' above sea level, and you'll fly over the township and then to Bellingen, via the spectacular mountain escarpment (Dorrigo national park) and Thora Valley. Then it's back to Coffs to fly over the harbour and land. This flight explores the natural beauty of the landscapes north and south of Dorrigo, with breathtaking views flying over the mountain escarpments. This flight is best taken on a good weather day and we may advise rescheduling to ensure the weather gives you the best scenic experience.

5. ORARA VALLEY (Coramba, Glenreagh, Red Rock)
After take off you'll fly inland to the beautiful Orara Valley village of Coramba, past Red Hill and the Karangi Dam, and then continue to track the length of the Orara Valley northbound. You'll follow the north-south railway line as it meanders past Coramba, Nana Glen and Glenreagh, with forest covered hills on either side. The escarpments near Glenreagh are a visual treat, with Grafton visible on a clear day, and once through the eye of the rifle (v saddle near Glenreagh) you will track to the coast again. Intercepting it at Red Rock, you will fly along the coast southbound back to Coffs, passing famous Coffs Coast beaches such as Corindi, Woolgoolga, Emerald, Moonee and Sapphire. Before landing you'll fly over the harbour at Coffs. This flight treats you to the visual beauty of both northern hinterland and coast.

*Flight Times are average estimates based on engine start time to engine stop time using a Cessna 210. If a smaller aircraft is used (eg passenger 3 seats), full flight rates will be adjusted. Please arrive 15 minutes before booked departure time, and expect the whole flight experience to take about an hour.
